MAN HANGS HIMSELF AFTER RETURNING FROM A VIGIL

A man who reportedly went to a church vigil at Iju Ishaga area of Lagos on Saturday has hanged himself on a tree. The man simply identified as Taofik was said to have attended King of Kings Church at Taju Bello Street, Iju Ishaga before the incident.

According to the Lagos State police public relations officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the suicide, the man committed suicide after the vigil around 5.30 am.

It was gathered that the incident was reported by the assistant pastor of the church, Odunike Abiodun, who made a statement about the case at Iju police station.

Badmos said, the “victim died by hanging himself on a tree in a valley close to a river near the church where he came for night vigil. Detectives from the division are on the scene and investigation is ongoing to unravel the reason behind his act.’’
